Chiropractic Care

What is Chiropractic Care?

Chiropractic is a natural form of healthcare, in which the practitioner identifies and removes subluxations— the interference within the nervous system that inhibits the body’s natural capacity to heal and repair. Chiropractic is an important integrative therapy used at Progressive Medical Center because there is a particularly intimate relationship between the digestive tract and the nervous system. In fact, more nerve material is dedicated to the gut than anywhere else in the body.

Chiropractic aims not at treating specific diseases, but rather at ensuring that the patient’s capacity for healing is “turned on” and working at 100%. The Chiropractic Team at Progressive Medical Center has helped patients better manage their conditions, including but not limited to:

  • Allergies
  • Alzheimer’s Disease
  • Arthritis
  • Athletic Injuries
  • Attention Deficit Disorder
  • Autism Spectrum Disorder
  • Chronic Pain & Stress
  • Depression
  • Digestive Disorders
  • Disc Bulging/ Herniation
  • Headaches and Migraines
  • Hormonal Imbalance
  • Hypertension
  • Multiple Sclerosis
  • Neck & Back Pain
  • Parkinson’s Disease
  • Scoliosis
  • Seizures

How are treatments performed?

Progressive Medical Center’s Chiropractors utilize Upper Cervical Chiropractic to restore wellness and optimize recovery, without the use of drugs or surgery. Under this very special technique, the patient’s upper cervical complex—the top two bones of the spinal column—is evaluated and examined. Structural abnormalities found in this region can create neurological distortions that can have negative systemic ramifications on the body, thus impairing the patient’s ability to repair and thrive.

All patients undergo a neurological scan using an FDA-approved, digital infrared thermographic scanner. This non-invasive diagnostic device allows the patient to see how well their nervous system is functioning. Subsequently, x-rays of the patient’s upper cervical spine will be studied and precisely measure for any structural abnormalities.

Finally, a comprehensive physical exam will be performed on each patient. Our chiropractic team will correlate all the findings and create an appropriate care plan. We use an integrative approach which incorporates nutrition, exercise, detoxification, and stress management in order to provide lasting pain relief and increased function.

Upper cervical chiropractic adjustments are safely and carefully performed by hand. Our highly trained chiropractic team will make sure that every patient knows what to expect with every visit. In addition to chiropractic adjustments, patients can take advantage of adjunctive therapies designed to further enhance the rate of repair, restoration, and detoxification.

How long will treatment take?

Many of our patients begin to feel better after just the first treatment. However, it’s important to remember that healing is a process, not a single event! There are a variety of factors that will affect the length of care needed such as past medical history, age, pre-existing health conditions, and any injuries sustained while under care, to name a few.

During the acute stage of a problem, you may see your doctor more regularly as this period is a critical time for monitoring the changes in your body as you begin to get better. Once a patient’s neurology is working optimally and their symptoms are reduced significantly, then it is merely a matter of periodic check-ups and guidance from the practitioner.
